His Early Years

Kane Allen Brown was born in 1993 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He spent much of his youth living with his mother in Redbank, Tennessee, where he first became interested in music while in high school. Initially attracted to R&B, Brown decided to focus on country after winning an 11th grade talent contest with his rendition of Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)." Buoyed by that success, Brown began posting videos online of covers of songs by Brantley Gilbert, Alan Jackson, and others. He quickly developed a loyal following, a fan base that helped his own single, "Don't Go City On Me,"

go viral upon its release in 2014. In 2015, Brown released his debut EP, Closer, which reached the Top Ten of the Billboard Country Albums chart. Following Closer, he also released the stand-alone single "Used to Love You Sober."

PROJECTS

His Career

Since the arrival of his self-titled, 2X Platinum debut album in November 2016, Kane Brown has ascended from social media notability to become one of country music’s most accomplished mainstays. Not only was he recently named as one of the Time100 most influential people in the world, but the 28-year-old singer-songwriter was nominated for multiple 2022 ACM Awards and 2021 CMA Awards as his latest hit single, “One Mississippi,” approaches the summit of country airplay and consumption charts.

Upon the release of his Kane Brown Deluxe Version in October 2017, Brown made history as the first artist ever to lead all five of Billboard’s main country charts simultaneously. This accomplishment was achieved by his album which reigned No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 13 weeks, plus his 7X Platinum-certified hits “Heaven” and “What Ifs” featuring Lauren Alaina.

Mixtape Vol. 1, Kane Brown’s first multi-song project since Experiment, dropped in August 2020 and earned an ACM Award nomination for Album of the Year in 2021. Brown’s EP includes the Platinum country smash, “Cool Again,” and Platinum No. 7 Top 40 hit “Be Like That,” a collaboration with Swae Lee and Khalid. Also contained within the seven-song set is “Last Time I Say Sorry, a duet with John Legend which was penned by Brown and Legend.

Respectively the fourth and seventh most-streamed country songs of all time (U.S. Nielsen Country On-Demand Streams chart), “Heaven” and “What Ifs” both have exceeded 1 billion streams worldwide. With his recent RIAA award upgrades, Brown joined Taylor Swift and Florida Georgia Line as the only artists with multiple 7X Platinum or more country song certifications.

Dubbed Breakthrough Entertainer of the Year (Associated Press) and one of “31 People Changing the South” (TIME) in 2018, the RCA Nashville/Zone 4/Sony Music Nashville recording artist became the only male country artist in more than 24 years to have his sophomore album debut at the top the Billboard 200 when he dropped Experiment the same year.  Now certified Platinum, the long-player has yielded the three consecutive No. 1 2X Platinum certified hits “Lose It,” “Good As You” and “Homesick.”

Worldwide Beautiful Music Video

The Mixtape Vol. 1 selection “Worldwide Beautiful” was originally released on June 4, 2021, two days after the music industry’s sector-wide Blackout Tuesday. In September of the same year, Brown shared his powerful music video for “Worldwide Beautiful,” a poignant clip directed by Alex Alvga that captures the song’s unifying message with symbolic and vivid imagery. The song and video benefited Boys and Girls Club of America to advocate for justice and equality.

With “Worldwide Beautiful,” Brown made history and achieved multiple milestones. In 2021, he received an ACM Award for “Video of the Year,” the first time a Black solo artist has won this trophy. Later the same year, he received a nod for his “Worldwide Beautiful” clip in the Video For Good category at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). And, another first for the entertainer, Brown performed on the BET Awards in 2020 where he made the national television debut of “Worldwide Beautiful.”

In October, the five time AMA winner launched the first leg of his Blessed & Free Tour, marking the first time a country artist has brought their headlining tour to all 29 NBA Arenas. The 35-city trek across North America included sold-out stops at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center (recently renamed CRYPTO.com Arena), the latter of which he sold-out the first time in January of 2020 when he became the 11th country artist to do so at the world-renowned venue. Recently, Brown announced an extension of his Blessed & Free Tour, kicking off with his first ever stadium show in his hometown of Chattanooga, TN on May 7 at Finley Stadium.

Kane Brown’s aforementioned tour was named after his first co-pen and duet with Grammy and Academy Award winning singer-songwriter H.E.R. “Bless & Free,” which dropped in late September, is one of the global entertainers several compelling artist collaborations. A 2019 summer and fall multi-format smash, Brown and DJ Marshmello’s 2X Platinum “One Thing Right” became a Top 15 hit at Top 40 radio and crossed over to the Hot AC format. Another Top 40 pop success was Brown and blackbear’s “Memory” which peaked in late 2021. His vocal pairings include stars such as Camila Cabello (“Never Be The Same” remix), Khalid (“Saturday Nights” remix), Digital Farm Animals (“Good As You” remix) and Brooks & Dunn (“Believe” from the super duo’s Reboot album). While making history at the same time twice, Brown released the first-ever Country/Latin collaboration, “Lost In The Middle Of Nowhere (Spanish Remix)” with Becky G, and he also joined Brazil’s Fernado & Sorocaba to create the first-ever Country/Sertanejo collaboration, a reimagined version of his U.S. hit, “Homesick.”

But clearly one of Brown’s most impactful collaborations is “Famous Friends” with Chris Young, his long-time friend and RCA Nashville/Sony Music Nashville labelmate. Billboard’s 2021 year-end No. 1 Country Airplay Song, “Famous Friends” held No. 1 for two weeks and remained in the Top 5 of Billboard’s airplay chart for 15 weeks. The Platinum-certified hit received three 2022 ACM Awards and three 2021 CMA Awards nods for “Single,” “Music Video of the Year” and “Musical Event,” and was also nominated for “Country Song” at the AMAs and iHeart Radio Music Awards. In June, Brown and Young won a 2021 CMT Music Award for “Collaborative Video of the Year” for “Famous Friends.” Brown, who won the most awards of any artist (“Collaborative” and “Male Video of the Year” for “Worship You”), also co-hosted the 2021 CMT Music Awards with Kelsea Ballerini.

Now in 2022, Brown’s connection to his fans continues to be his motivation to write, record, and perform. Its origin can be traced back to before he first posted a performance on social media or won a middle school talent competition in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, years before he signed with Sony Music Nashville in 2016.

The young man, who The New York Time’s singled out as “one of Nashville’s most promising stars” has since “distinguished himself with an unorthodox path and unvarnished lyrics (and a)…radio-friendly, state-of-the-art sound that’s irresistibly accessible,” asserts Billboard. But in continuation, here’s perhaps the most compelling point of all…

“He’s convinced his music will ultimately bring folks together.”
